Update from Cochrane Centre

The special meeting for the members of Cochrane Centre, which includes all of you, has been rescheduled to June 13, 2017 at 7:30pm at Cochrane Centre – Cochrane Street United Church entrance.

As communicated to you in a recent congregational email, Cochrane Centre has been successful in obtaining additional funding to construct 5 additional units of affordable housing for seniors in the lower level of the annex building. Construction will start as soon as possible.


Catherine French will started her duties as Cochrane Centre Manager on June 5th. Her primary duties are to help us make Cochrane Centre fully operational.


An update on the organ. The Cassavant Technician visited us recently. Unfortunately, we will not be able to make the organ operational until the renovation in the lower level of the annex building is completed. This will take at least 4 – 5 months.


We have asked our contractor to look at the reason the lighting in the choir loft is not working. It was originally thought this was connected to the organ. However, this is not the case. Electricians will be looking at this over the next few days. We hope to have the problem resolved shortly.


An update on the full occupancy of the annex building. This has taken longer that we expected. Our architects and engineers are working with the City. We hope to have full occupancy soon. In the meantime, the offices for the Minister, Cochrane Centre Manager and Administrative/Secretarial staff were relocated from St. Thomas’s church to Cochrane Centre June 1.
